An ancient Indian proverb holds that "everything good is found in ginger." And he's right about flavor and especially about medicinal properties.
Originating, apparently, from some tropical area of the Far East, the cultivation of ginger has spread to almost all the tropical regions of the world. It usually takes advantage of the fresh rhizome of the plant, although it can also be purchased in powder or pickled.
With a spicy and lemony flavor, this underground stem, star of Asian cuisine, not only flavors rice stews, sweet and sour sauces, desserts and hot and cold beverages, but is considered an effective remedy for the relief of intestinal problems. , nausea, vomiting ... apart from being a good anti-inflammatory and antiseptic.

Properties of ginger
The multiple virtues that are attributed to ginger are due mainly to its richness in volatile oils.
It also has phenolic substances (called gingerols, shoagoles and gingerones), proteolytic enzymes, linoleic acid, vitamins (especially vitamin B6 and vitamin C) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium).

How is ginger taken?
The medical investigations that are made with ginger usually use the extract (dose of 250 mg) or the raw or cooked root (about 2 g).
To prevent dizziness, before embarking on the trip, it is advisable to take two cups of an infusion with sliced fresh grated ginger and a teaspoon of chamomile flowers. Let the ginger boil for 15 minutes over low heat, add chamomile and let it rest for five minutes before straining.
In long trips it is advisable to take a thermos with a couple of cups of this tisane. It is also useful to chew a piece of raw ginger root, although it is spicy and its taste may not be pleasant to all palates. Another option is to take it as a tincture: 10 drops in half a glass of water before embarking on the trip.
For the rest of indications, you can also take the infusion (up to three cups a day) or season with the grated rind both salty and sweet dishes. To prevent dizziness, sips of infusion are taken - up to three glasses - throughout the day.
